Kongsberg Digital’s Vessel Insight To Be Installed In Güngen’s Fleet

Today (7th July), Kongsberg Digital, announced the signing of a contract to deliver it’s Vessel Insight infrastructure to Turkish shipping company, Güngen Denizcilik ve Ticaret A.Ş. (Güngen). The company currently operates a fleet of six high-specs Suezmax crude oil-tankers.

The Vessel Insight software infrastructure would be installed on all of Güngen’s vessels. This would be an important step forward, in the digitization strategy of the company, which would help in the reduction of fleet emissions, thus optimizing performance.

Andreas Jagtøyen, the Executive Vice President, at KDI, said, “We are very pleased to have signed a contract to deliver our Vessel Insight infrastructure to Güngen”.

“Güngen is a well-reputed shipping company with ambitions to digitalize its fleet to the highest level, and is a forerunner in standardizing the digitalization process on vessels. We are looking forward to working with Güngen to unlock the full potential that lies in digitalization and the software available on the market.” Andreas added.

The immediate goal of Güngen, for the installation of Vessel Insight is to benchmark the vessels in it’s fleet. This would provide a foundation for an increased fuel saving, and a reduction of emissions. The strategic purpose of the company is to standardize the process of digitalization and the collection of data from the vessels’ assets. The data Inputs can be then analyzed, and the system can be easily connected to the software applications in the Kognifai Marketplace.

This contract between Kongsberg Digital and Güngen, was signed back on 5th May, 2021. The Installation of Vessel Insight is expected to commence this month.
