CS Hunan Venture, with a gross tonnage (GT) and a deadweight tonnage (DWT) of 1,62,654 GT and 3,08,000 DWT respectively, is one of the most energy efficient VLCCs (Very Large Crude Carriers) to ever sail in the high seas. It has been surveyed by the China Classification Society (CCS), built by Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Group (DSIC), owned by China Shipbuilding Consulting Company and is operated by Wah Kwong Ship Management, Hong Kong.
The vessel was delivered today, where Fan Qiang, the Vice President of China Classification Society mentioned, that the vessel’s innovative design provides a boost to its Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI), which is more than 20 PC below the baseline. This is one of the highest (best) in the world, for VLCCs of same size.
The CS Hunan Venture’s comprehensive performance indices successfully reached World First Class during surveying by CSS.

The China Classification Society, till now, have classed at-least a hundred VLCCs. The classification society would be classing a LNG dual-fueled VLCC along with DSIC, which will be the first LNG dual-fuel VLCC in the world, upon delivery. It is scheduled to be delivered by the end of this year (2021).
